Orchardgrass
Description
Orchardgrass (dactylis glomerata) is grown as hay and for pastures because of its relative high yields. The sugar content makes it sweeter than most other temperate grasses. Orchardgrass hay tends to be leafier than timothy, but the leaves are often coarser.
 
Harvesting and Yields
Regrows faster after cutting than Timothy and often produces higher season-long yields. We can cut the orchard three times and average 2 tons per cutting. For horse buyers, the best maturity stage is after heading, but before pollen-shed.

  • Straw: single compressed
